LC Swansea launches new soft play area extension

Swansea Councillor Nick Bradley cut the all important red ribbon to mark the exciting moment of the LC Play Area being re-opened after a £45,000 investment was made to extend the Play area and add in lots of excting new features!

The aquatic themed interactive Play area is already a great day out for the family and has been a popular attraction in its own right for the LC, over and above the Waterpark feature it is best known for. But with a new ball shower, four more battle cannons to shoot your friends and a third floor extension that over hangs the parents, called ‘Run the risk’ it should be even more fun for children of all ages, and even the adults can join in!

Here at the LC we're very excited to be able to bring even more fun Play time to children from in and around Swansea.

Nic Beggs, General Manager at the LC said: "We are very excited to be opening our new, extended play area. The development of this new facility provides a much larger and more interactive fun for our young visitors, Mum and Dad might have a light fun too!

Now its your turn to come inside and explore creatures of the deep down at the LC Swansea!

A good question. If you’ve not come across us before, Go Ape is the UK’s number one forest adventure. Days out at Go Ape are about living life more adventurously, having fun with friends and family and getting in touch with your inner Tarzan (he’s in there, we promise).

There are 28 Go Ape locations around the country, all set in some of Britain’s most spectacular forests. No two of our Tree-Top Adventures are the same, and some locations also offer other outdoor activities like our Tree-Top Junior courses for kids and our brilliant Forest Segway safaris.

Our gorgeous beaches keep scooping up the awards and accolades!

Langland Bay, Gower

Keep Britain Tidy have just announced that the International Blue Flag Jury have again awarded our beaches with four Blue Flags, which will be proudly flown at each beach; Bracelet, Langland, Caswell and Port Eynon Bays.

The Blue Flag indicates that these beaches have excellent water quality and outstanding facilities that meet high European standards. This means that families and watersport fans can enjoy a clean and safe beach experience, to maximise their fun at the seaside.

Each of our Blue Flag beaches are also patrolled by RNLI lifeguards who ensure watersport enthusiasts and swimmers can use the beach together safely. And at Caswell Bay, only licensed Surf Schools can use the beach to ensure high safety standards are maintained.

Simon Jayham of Surf GSD who is licensed to operate at Caswell Bay said, 'this is an excellent Swansea Council initiative as only properly accredited Surf Schools use this popular beach, ensuring the safety of all users. We are delighted to be the first licensed Surf School at Caswell Bay.'

Steve Hopkins, Tourism Manager, Swansea Council said, 'awards and high safety standards, coupled with our outstanding scenery make our beaches a draw for visitors, this is especially important in 2012 as our coastline is in the spotlight with the opening of the Wales Coast Path this month. And we have a consistent reputation for safe, beautiful beaches for walking, watersports, and family fun.'

Mumbles B&B to feature on Channel 4's 'Four in a Bed'

The Four star 'Langland Road Bed & Breakfast' to take part in Channel 4 competition

Welcome to Langland Road Bed & Breakfast

Look out for our very own 'Langland Road Bed & Breakfast' featuring on Channel 4's popular 'Four in a Bed' series, which will be aired sometime in June.

Channel 4 have just finished filming their latest series, which opposes Langland Road B&B to other bed & breakfasts in Colwyn Bay, Cheshire and Felixstowe.   

For those who are not familiar with the popular TV series, 'Four in a Bed' features four pairs of B&B owners taking turns as hosts to decide which one provides the best value for money. B&B owners throw open their doors and take turns to stay with one another - and pay what they consider fair for their stay.

It is transmitted at 5.30pm Monday to Friday on Channel 4.

Everton star Tim talks up Swansea

IT'S not only visiting football fans who are praising Swansea Bay - Premier League stars are getting in on the action too

Everton striker Tim Cahill is the latest to have given positive feedback about Swansea when his team visited the Liberty Stadium on the weekend.

The 32-year-old took a photo of Swansea beach from the promenade in the sunshine and urged his 326,000 followers on Twitter to check it out.

And Cahill knows a thing or two about beaches – he's from Sydney in Australia.

His endorsement follows-on from Manchester United and England star Rio Ferdinand praising Swansea as a destination when the Red Devils visited the Liberty Stadium in November.

Steve Hopkins, Swansea Council's Tourism and Marketing Manager, was delighted with the positive comments made by Cahill during Everton's stay in the city.

Steve said: "A lot of the visiting teams have been taking strolls along the promenade to unwind before taking on the Swans at the Liberty Stadium. Tim was saying how impressed he was with the scenery and that's really encouraging because he shared his views with all his followers across the world on Twitter.

"We've been running intensive marketing campaigns in the footballing heartlands of the UK to raise the profile of Swansea Bay as a visitor destination but endorsements from stars like Tim help take that exposure to a new level.

"Feedback suggests many fans to have already come to Swansea for the football action will return in future. This is great news for Swansea Bay's hotels, bed and breakfasts,activity providers and traders because it shows Premier League status is boosting the local economy.

"And we may even see Tim coming back in future without his team. Tim is a very interested in diving, so we sent him the run-down about spots on Gower where he can dive."

Promotional posters of award-winning Rhossili Bay in key outdoor locations across Liverpool will stay up in the city until Swansea take on Kenny Dalglish's team at the Liberty Stadium in mid-May.

The posters were put up in readiness for the Everton match at shopping centres, phone booths and the very busy Kirkdale and Lime Street railway stations.

Each outdoor location has a QR (Quick Response) Code. Anyone who scans over the code with their smartphone is then automatically redirected to our official tourism website.
